
Under the guidance of Mark Narey and his business partner head chef Karl Rowlett the Grouse Inn, Oakworth has built up quite a reputation for serving fine home-cooked food. Now that reputation is due to be enhanced even further for the Timothy Taylor owned moorland pub has been short listed for the prestigious Publican 'Food Pub of the Year'.
The Publican, a leading pub trade journal, organise the awards annually and this year they will be held at the Grosvenor Hotel, London on Wednesday 21st April.
Karl Rowlett commented: "When you consider the hundreds of pubs in the UK serving excellent quality food we feel honoured to be in a short list of just six".
As well as the quality of the food the judges are looking for clear evidence, amongst a list of criteria, of good menu planning, food preparation and presentation as well as careful produce sourcing and provenance. Staff training in all aspects of food preparation is also key to success.
Timothy Taylor's Tied Estate Manager Andrew Daykin added: "Mark and Karl have done a fantastic job of establishing the Grouse as a destination dining pub. Winning this national award would be reward for all their hard work. Everyone at the brewery is keeping their fingers crossed.
