Timothy Taylor’s Takes Beer to Westminster

October 2014 – Timothy Taylor’s of Keighley, West Yorkshire raised a glass of Boltmaker, CAMRA 2014 Supreme Champion Beer of the Britain’ in Westminster after their local MP Kris Hopkins chose this week’s guest ale in the House of Commons Strangers’ Bar.

Boltmaker, a 4% ABV genuine Yorkshire bitter, was enjoyed by the many MPs and civil servants who have the Strangers’ Bar as their ‘local’. Grant Simpson, Timothy Taylor’s Sales Director shared a pint with constituency MP Kris Hopkins.

Kris commented “Timothy Taylor’s is a real asset to our constituency, brewing wonderful craft beers and providing jobs for local people in both the brewery and their excellent pub estate. It has been a pleasure to bring this fine beer from my constituency to Westminster and introduce my colleagues to the superb taste of Keighley”.

Grant Simpson said, ‘We were delighted that Boltmaker was selected for the Strangers’ Bar and are grateful to Kris and the bar team for making it happen. We’re very proud of our beers and this was a great opportunity to spread the word outside our usual arena of pubs, bars and supermarkets’

He added, ‘We’d love to think that a pint of Boltmaker may have inspired some of our politicians to dream up ground-breaking new policies, but we are pleased so many MPs enjoyed drinking it.’

Boltmaker was made available in the Strangers’ Bar as part of a scheme run by the All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group and the Society of Independent Brewers, SIBA.

Grant Simpson added: ‘Timothy Taylor’s have produced award winning beers in Keighley since 1858. Landlord, our nationally renowned classic pale ale, is the beer everyone associates with Timothy Taylor’s and has won more awards than any other English ale. It is great, therefore, that Boltmaker has received the recognition we have always felt it deserves. It is the brewer’s favourite and now, thanks to this award and a bottle listing in Tesco, beer lovers across the country will be able to appreciate its superb taste.
