A well-balanced Yorkshire Bitter with a full measure of maltiness and hoppy aroma, Boltmaker has become a favourite among many of us here at Timothy Taylor's. It's a beer with real character, combining rich, malty flavours with a satisfying bitter finish, making it the perfect companion for a visit to the pub.
A Name with Local Roots
Long-standing drinkers may remember that Boltmaker was once known as Best Bitter.
The beer itself didn't change, but the name did.
The decision to rename the beer as Boltmaker was inspired by a famous Keighley landmark, the Boltmakers Arms. The pub has long been associated with the brewery and is renowned among beer lovers as one of the country's great cask ale destinations. By adopting the name Boltmaker, the beer gained a stronger identity rooted in the town where Timothy Taylor's has been brewing since 1858.
It's a name that celebrates both our local heritage and the communities that continue to champion great cask beer today.

Brewed the Taylor's Way
Like all Timothy Taylor's beers, Boltmaker is brewed with an uncompromising focus on quality.
Using pure Knowle Spring water, carefully selected malts and whole leaf hops, the result is a genuine Yorkshire Bitter packed with flavour and balance. Its distinctive malt character is complemented by fruity and spicy hop notes, delivering a pint that is both approachable and full of personality.
An Award-Winning Bitter
Over the years, Boltmaker has earned numerous accolades, including being named CAMRA Supreme Champion Beer of Britain in 2014 and Champion Beer of Britain Bitter Category in 2016.
These awards reflect what many drinkers have known for years: Boltmaker is a beer of exceptional quality.

A Favourite at the Brewery
Ask around the brewery and you'll find no shortage of Boltmaker fans.
Whether enjoyed alongside a hearty meal, after a day spent brewing, or simply in good company at the local, Boltmaker is a beer that consistently delivers. Its balance of malt sweetness, hop character and drinkability makes it a pint that many of us return to time and time again.
That Taste of Taylor's
While Landlord may be our most widely recognised beer, Boltmaker has carved out a loyal following of its own.
From its origins as Best Bitter to its identity today, inspired by one of Keighley's most celebrated pubs, Boltmaker remains a proud part of the Timothy Taylor's range: honest, characterful and unmistakably Yorkshire.
