The Chancellor pops in for a pint of Le Champion

May 2015 – The Brewery turned into a hive of activity on Wednesday 29th April when George Osborne, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, visited with Kris Hopkins, Keighley MP and Community Pubs Minister. After being greeted by Tim Dewey, the recently appointed chief executive of Timothy Taylor, Mr Osborne was given a brief overview of the fascinating Company history by Charles Dent, Chairman. The visiting party were then shown around the Brewery in the very capable hands of 5th brewer, Tom Slack, including a chance for Mr Osborne to add hops to the hop back and go on to fill and tap some barrels containing Landlord. He proved quite proficient at both.

2nd brewer Andrew Leman was on hand to assist Mr Osborne in pulling a pint of the very popular Le Champion brew, originally created for last year’s Tour de France but repeated this year for this weekend’s Tour de Yorkshire. In his BBC interview that aired on BBC TV’s Look North, Mr Osborne stated ”It is a great place to visit. Timothy Taylor’s is such an iconic brewery. I strongly recommend the new beer they have brewed for the Tour de Yorkshire, Le Champion. Maybe not for the cyclists taking part, just the people watching!”
