Beef & Beer Dinner Raises £46,774 for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice

The annual Beef & Beer Dinner, which is organised by members of the Sue Ryder Manorlands Challenge Committee, was held at the Craiglands Hotel in Ilkley on Thursday, November 10.

The event – which was in its 17th year and was attended by more than 200 guests from local businesses – raised an incredible £46,774 to help fund the expert palliative care and support that Sue Ryder provides for people with life-limiting conditions and their families.

The evening hosted 20 tables of local companies including road planning specialists Ward Plane, local builders R N Wooler and Clays of Addingham, The Coniston Hotel, and others.

The night started with a Timothy Taylor’s drinks reception and welcome speech by guest speaker Tim Finney. A four-course meal followed with delicious beef supplied by Dovecote Park. The evening then finished with a live auction containing fabulous lots. These included a Timothy Taylor’s brewery tour, corporate hospitality packages at both Thirsk and Haydock racecourses, and even a private dining experience for 8 with Coniston’s head chef, Thomas Robertson.

The event is heavily supported by both Timothy Taylor’s Brewery and Dovecote Park who provide the very generous donations of both beef and beer – without which the event would not be possible. The funds raised go towards the much-needed care and support that patients and families need when it matters most - not just within the walls of the hospice, but in the community as well.

Harriet Wood, community fundraiser at Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice - which is in Oxenhope, said: "We are once again delighted with the success of this event and we feel truly grateful to be able to work with such wonderful supporters and companies.

"Thank you to Timothy Taylor’s Brewery and Dovecote Park, who provided very generous donations of beef and beer, and to all our guests who attended on the night."

The Beef & Beer Dinner is one of two corporate events organised by the Manorlands Challenge Committee each year, which have collectively raised over £1m for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice.
