This Cask Ale Week (18–28 September 2025), we’re raising a glass not just to Britain’s national drink - cask beer - but also to our own story, which has been intertwined with it for more than 165 years.
As part of the celebrations, we’re sharing something special from the archives: a beautifully illustrated brochure produced in 1958 to mark the centenary year of Timothy Taylor & Co. Ltd.
The booklet, created to celebrate 100 years of brewing in Keighley, showcases wonderful hand-drawn illustrations of our brewery and pub estate at the time. It’s a fascinating snapshot of both the company and the town’s heritage - a reminder of how important beer, pubs, and people have always been to what we do.
We’ll be sharing some images from the brochure in this article, but if you’d like to browse the full document in all its detail, you can view it online thanks to the Keighley and District Local History Society, who have lovingly digitised and preserved it in their public archive.
We’d like to thank the society for their invaluable work in protecting and sharing Keighley’s history for future generations.

From 1858 to Today: A Brewing Legacy
Timothy Taylor founded his brewery in Keighley in 1858, with a simple principle: to never compromise on quality.
That ethos has carried us through world wars, changing tastes, and generations of beer lovers, ensuring that Timothy Taylor’s beers remain as respected today as they were in the 19th and 20th centuries.
The 1958 Centenary brochure captured a company proud of its first hundred years, and we remain just as proud of the journey since.
Landmarks along the way have included the creation of Landlord, first brewed in 1952, which has gone on to become one of Britain’s most awarded cask ales, as well as the expansion of our brewery, and the continued loyalty of our drinkers.
Looking Ahead: The Next Chapter
While we love to celebrate our past, we’re equally excited about the future.
Right now, we’re in the midst of a five-year development project at our Keighley brewery, ensuring that we can continue to brew our beer to the highest standards for decades to come.
This investment includes upgrading facilities, improving sustainability, and making sure we have the capacity to keep championing cask ale for the next 100 years.
