Special Ingredient Revealed For Timothy Taylor’s New Brew, Le Champion A Beer With Extra ‘Hoppiness’

April 2014 -Retraction-: Timothy Taylor’s will be doing Le Champion but we don’t need to add Frog’s Legs to improve the hoppy flavour and we can categorically state “No Frogs were hurt in the Brewing of this Beer”-Retraction-

As excitement grows in Yorkshire prior to July’s Tour de France Grand Depart, Tuesday 1st April sees the launch of a very special Timothy Taylor’s beer, ‘Le Champion’, to celebrate this historic event.

Le Champion is a French style blonde beer brewed with Alsace Strisselspalt hops and continental malts to give it a smooth body and a delicate hop fragrance.

However, as this is a unique occasion, Head Brewer Peter Eells will add a special ingredient to give it extra flavour. He said: ‘We want to produce a French style beer that people will remember so we’ve added frog’s legs to the brew to give it extra ‘Hoppiness’. This is Timothy Taylor’s with a touch of Ooh La La!”

Managing Director Charles Dent added: ‘Many of our pubs are on the Tour’s route, indeed it starts from outside the Town Hall Tavern in Leeds. This is our first Blonde Beer in a continental style and we expect it to be a real hit in English pubs entertaining French visitors – it will go well with that old Yorkshire favourite, Toad in the Hole!’

Le Champion will be on the bar at good pubs throughout the country from the middle of May.
