New directors for Timothy Taylor’s board

Following the retirement of Diana Dent and Jonathan Gamble from our Board in 2018, we have appointed two new independent directors. John Walsh and James Simpson began their directorships at the start of the year and will attend their first board meeting in March 2019.

John Walsh is Chairman, Managing Director and major shareholder of Abraham Moon & Sons, a Yorkshire business, founded in 1837 and one of the last remaining vertically integrated woollen mills in Great Britain. His business has thrived by establishing itself as a premium niche branded business in the UK and abroad.

James Simpson is Managing Director of Pol Roger Portfolio, the UK agent for Pol Roger. Pol Roger, established in 1849, is one of only a few Grande Marque Champagne houses that remains family owned and run. James, who has been with the firm since 1993, has been central to establishing its pre-eminent reputation in the champagne sector with strong sales growth and premium pricing in the UK, which is its largest market.

Timothy Taylor’s Chairman Tim Clarke commented: “We are delighted to have been able to appoint to our board two exceptional individuals from businesses that have thrived by sharing the same ethos as Timothy Taylor’s; independence and a focus on developing a strong, premium brand in a highly competitive market. We look forward to benefitting from their experience.”
